The Apple iPhone 5S is getting closer to its fall launch and as production ramps up, we are sure to see plenty of leaks! In fact, just this week, we got a glimpse of the completed display in a photo leak, followed by FanaticFone publishing a full set of high quality photos of the 5S’ display assembly. Let the leaks begin!

According to these leaked photos, there have been some pretty huge internal changes that will make the iPhone 5S different from the iPhone 5. It is widely assumed that this redesign is an effort to make room for rumored new components such as a fingerprint scanner.

In the side by side photographs of the 5 and 5S released by FanaticFone, it is very easy to see the hardware changes that have been made internally to the 5S. These changes suggest that a possible faster processor, better camera and the aforementioned fingerprint scanner will all be present in Apple’s latest iteration of their flagship smartphone.

While it is impossible to confirm that these photos are 100% authentic, it is widely believed that, due to various photos all coinciding with each other, they are the real deal. The fall launch of the 5S will tell us for sure, but it seems that the new iPhone is going to be significantly different than its sibling, the iPhone 5.

For whatever reason, Apple decided not to release a beta version of iOS 7 for the iPad, and released it solely for the iPhone and the iPod touch. Apple’s tablet will instead be getting iOS 7 on-board when the official edition rolls out to the public, probably sometime in October. Though, the Internet is always here to break the rules.

A native Russian, known on YouTube as Rozetked, posted a video on YouTube, thirteen hours ago as I am writing this article, showing an iPad which is either 2nd or 3rd or 4th gen, running on the latest version of Apple’s mobile operating system.

After watching the video a couple of times, I noticed that the software not only is a precisely made representation of the original OS and includes the full package of features, it’s also adjusted to the iPad’s screen dimensions. I figured that out after looking at the size of notification and command center. Something I am not sure though, is if the parallax effect between the apps and the background is present here. If you see it, let us know in the comments below.

Moreover, the video creator pointed out to the viewers that when the user tries to access the Settings app, in this edition, the device will automatically respring. An interesting fact is though, all the third-party apps work fine. Brain-teaser isn’t it? In addition, Rozetked doesn’t provide us with any info regarding how he installed the software to his device, which leaves a lot of questions without answers on the table.

Now regarding how official this iOS 7 edition is, with the data at hand, we can’t say much. It’s highly probable that what we saw is a very-well professionally made theme as well, ported to the device either through Jailbreak or through another program. Unfortunately, our sources can not confirm its authenticity. If we get any new info, we’ll be sure to give you guys an update.

In the video, the person behind the camera speaks Russian, though he included English subtitles for our convenience. Watch it for yourself and let us know what you think!

Apple has said that iOS 7 will not ship until this Fall and, as the early reviews clearly indicate, it’s far from finished. In fact, some users and journalists have reported serious issues related to running, legally and otherwise, iOS 7 beta on their iPhones — broken apps, device lockups, lost data, etc. That said, don’t be a schmuck — step inside for a perfectly legal way to try iOS 7 now without messing up your mobile life.

Recombu.com has created and published a fully interactive iOS 7 beta on iPhone 5 emulator. Whereas the “real thing” is quite tactile, this demo is geared toward exposition rather than how iOS 7 feels.

For example, after “powering on” the iPhone 5 and “swiping to unlock,” you arrive at iOS 7 beta’s remade Home screen:

The new home of iOS 7, the home screen layout still utilises a 4×6 grid of icons (4×5 on iPhone 4/4S) but each of the new icons adheres to a single set of guides laid out by Ive and his design team. As such they have a consistent look and feel, all employing a vector based art style. Folders now accommodate multiple pages so you can throw tens of apps in each. The phone also features a faux-3D wallpaper which reacts as the phone is tilted in the hand.

Obviously, there’s no way to tilt the emulator in your hand to experience iOS 7′s new parallax effect. Nevertheless, you can still learn a lot about the iOS 7 beta and this demo works well on a touch enabled desktop computer.

That said, I found it’s a little more tactile, and fun, when using Recombu’s iOS 7 emulator on an iPad — it just seems more natural.

Have you tried iOS 7 beta for real? What are your impressions of Recombu’s emulator? Sound off in the comments below…

AT&T has been making a lot of positive changes these days. First, the company announced with the introduction of iOS 6 that it would start to allow FaceTime over 3G and 4G cellular data — although the nation’s best 4G network only allowed those with unlimited plans to do so. Since this Spring, AT&T has made other positive changes, including the introduction of its All-In-One brand (abbreviated as AIO Wireless) that would allow customers to access a 7GB prepaid plan with unlimited voice and text for $70 a month. There are other, smaller data plans as well available, but I’m super excited about the highest prepaid data plan.

Just a few weeks ago, AT&T announced that it would now provide HSPA+ and LTE support over its GoPhone prepaid service — what use to be forbidden by AT&T. It was once said online that if you struck a prepaid agreement with AT&T, stay “hush-hush” about the iPhone (many forum commenters said). Those forbidden days are now over, and this Friday, June 21st, iPhone customers will access LTE over AT&T’s prepaid service. What a dream come true!

As of today, AT&T has started rolling out its FaceTime over cellular data to all customers, whether on an unlimited or tiered data plan. This means that you can now use FaceTime in areas where there is no WiFi connectivity — a plus for many individuals who live in rural areas or countries where Internet is not as available as in America. This means that Apple’s new FaceTime audio calling feature will also be available in tough areas as well.

Alongside of AT&T’s GoPhone HSPA+ and LTE support for iPhone 5 customers, AT&T also plans to sell its exclusive Galaxy Note 8.0 tablet in a bundle this Friday, June 21st: customers who purchase the 8-inch tablet with a 2-year agreement and a GS4 model (whether the GS4 Mini, waterproof GS4 Active, or the original GS4) will be able to get the upfront price of the Note tablet dropped from $399.99 to $199.99. Of course, the smartphone and smartphone plan will cost you extra.

Huawei officially announced the much anticipated Ascend P6 at the company’s event in London today. According to yesterday’s poll, the phone has a demand of 2 million potential buyers. Based on the pictures Huawei released via a press release, the device will be available in three different colors. That includes black, white and for the ladies, pink. As far as specs go, the Chinese manufacturer packed in a lot considering how thin the phone is. Here they are:

Operating System: Android Jellybean 4.2.2 with Huawei’s Emotion UI

Screen: 4.7-inch 720p in-cell LCD

Cameras: 8MP back-facing, 1080p video and LED flash, 5MPix front-facing

Processor: Cortex-A9 quad-core clocked at 1.5GHz

RAM: 2GB

Weight and thickness: 120 grams, 6.18mm thick

Battery: 2000 mAh

Memory: 8GB expandable via MicroSD internal storage

Connectivity: HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth

Additional: Dual-SIM cards support and FM Radio

Despite the fact that the phone doesn’t support 4G LTE (which is mainly because it won’t come with any US carrier LTE plan), the device’s chip and RAM make the phone very speedy for today’s standards and features a premium-quality built as the entire handset is covered by brushed-looking metal. The silver band which covers the black version of the P6′s edges, are almost identical to the metal-band which surrounds the iPhone 4/4S/5.

The distinguishing feature of the P6 is how thin it is, as it’s only 6.18mm; classifying it as the thinnest smartphone currently in the market. Another feature that piqued our interest is the front-facing camera. Huawei seems to be one of the first manufacturer who puts effort into the front camera as the Ascend P6 features a 5 MP lens. Of course, mega pixels is not the main key point of a camera so we shall see about it when we get our hands-on the actual phone.

In addition, the P6 has a beautiful 4.7-inch HD LCD screen which looks gorgeous and has the latest version of Android on-board in conjunction with Huawei’s Emotion UI.

The device will hit China’s shelves this month while Western Europe will be getting it in July through a great variety of carriers (confirmed) including, Telefonica, Orange, H3G, O2, Carphone Warehouse, TalkTalk, Media Markt, Saturn, TIM as well as online retailers Amazon and CDiscount.

The phone will be coming to Greece as well, where I am located, so expect a full review in the following weeks. So… what do you guys think of Huawei’s new masterpiece?

HTC’s new flagship phone and ‘answer’ to Samsung’s fourth iteration of the Galaxy S series, the One, seems to be doing very good as far as sales go. According to professional analyst William Power of R.W. Baird, the phone is in rank three of the best-selling smartphones in the States.

Baird’s research is based on store checks of the four larger U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile. The results clearly indicate that the phone is right behind the Galaxy S4 which follows closely the iPhone 5. An exception though takes place in the Verizon Wireless army, where Motorola seems to be playing in its own league as the RAZR HD and other RAZR devices are alternatives to Galaxy S4 and iPhone 5.

Moreover, there is some additional info pointed out by Baird’s research. Evidence suggests that Blackberry’s Q10 doesn’t really live up to the hype, as the vast majority of sales solely come from businesses. The Canadian manufacturer has been reportedly rumored to be launching three to four smartphones by the end of this year. What do you guys think? Will Blackberry’s upcoming devices pave the way for a fresh and more ambitious start for the company or will the situation remain ‘stagnant’?

Unless you have been living under a rock for the last two weeks, you know that Apple announced the seventh version of iOS. Well it seems like the iPhone won’t be the only phone receiving iOS 7′s (somewhat controversial) new look. MyColorScreen designed a theme called jbOS 7, short for “Jelly Bean OS 7,” and it’s compatible with all Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 and later. The theme is an impeccable simulation of iOS 7, featuring a very similar UI to the real thing.

Below is a video-tutorial by MyColorScreen demonstrating how to port jbOS 7 to your Android device (if you are so inclined) with a set of step by step directions.

Samsung’s Galaxy S4 is the younger brother to the Galaxy S3, and shows Samsung’s prowess against its competitors in the smartphone market. At the same time, tech analysts have been calling for the saturation of the American smartphone market for some months now, and the Korean manufacturer is not immune to market trends. Many are comparing Samsung’s sales of ten million smartphones with that of the HTC One. The HTC One recently won the award for the hottest phone of 2013, but Samsung had been there and done that before.

Samsung, however, is not content with its latest sales figures, though it’s president suggests that Samsung couldn’t be more phased with its sales. The company that is famously known for producing numerous variants of one successful brand — a trend that Sony is now following– is back with one more, a groundbreaking version that looks to overpower the sales of other competitors and up the sales of its GS4.

According to Reuters, Samsung will manufacture a smartphone this year that will come with LTE -Advanced technology. While we know what LTE does and how it provides faster internet speeds than normal 3G and 4G wireless, the LTE-Advanced version will provide even faster speeds than are currently available in most markets in the world.

Samsung looks to start selling its LTE-Advanced GS4 smartphone in South Korea, with other markets set to receive the new smartphone eventually. The LTE-Advanced GS4 will come with Samsung’s Super AMOLED display, 2GB of RAM, a five-inch screen, 13MP camera, and will run Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. As far as internal memory storage goes, we presume the new GS4 will start with 16GB, though it may offer higher storage versions later if the phone becomes an instant success. For those that want a more durable version of the GS4, I suggest buying the Galaxy S4 Active.

The fourth iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy S series (known as the Galaxy S4) was first announced back in March of 2013. Two months later, the smaller and cheaper version (known as the Galaxy S4 Mini) was announced as well. However, when they announced the Mini, Samsung didn’t give us detailed information regarding the device’s price tag or release date.Three UK, Phones4u and EE are the only UK carriers confirming July availability thus far.

Today, first in the group, Clove UK started its Galaxy S4 Mini pre-order campaign for £390. The device is said to be in-stock in early July. This deal is off-contract. Another smartphone retailer accepting S4 Mini pre-orders in the UK is Carphone Warhouse for £27/month on a two-year contract. If you agree to pay these monthly fees, the company will offer you the device for free.

As far as specs go, the Mini packs a 1.7GHz dual-core processor with 1.5GB RAM. The handset also features a 4.3″ qHD Super AMOLED display, 8MP rear-facing camera, 4G LTE and has the latest version of Android Jellybean 4.2.2 on-board. While not as impressive as its big brother in the Galaxy S4, the Mini does have a decent value proposition. What do you guys think?

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 8.0, an 8-inch mid-sized tablet the Korean manufacturer announced earlier this year at Mobile World Congress, is finally making its way to an AT&T store near you. Just over a week ago, AT&T said that they would offer the Note 8.0 in the “coming weeks”, and now we have an official date for when the device is actually coming.

AT&T, the nation’s second largest wireless carrier, announced today that the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 will hit the shelves on June 21st for $399.99 and a two-year contract. Moreover, AT&T will offer the tablet for just $200 if customers opt to simultaneously purchase a Galaxy S4, Galaxy S4 Active, or Galaxy Note II alongside the Note 8.0.

The Note 8.0 is packing a 1.6GHz Exynos 4110 quad-core processor along with a 2GB RAM under the hood. The mid-sized tablet comes with Android 4.2 Jellybean out of the box and has support for 4G LTE, WiFi, GPS and Bluetooth 4.0. A 4,600 mAh is powering the device, which Samsung claims will last up to seven hours with continuous use.

While the $400 price tag with a 2-year contract is a bit hefty, getting the tablet for just $200 when you buy a qualifying Galaxy branded smartphone is a pretty good deal. What do you think?
