How To Boot Into Safe Mode (for Android)

What is safe mode? Basically, it’s a way for you to run your operating system without any of the 3rd party apps. Most of the time, people will use safe mode to troubleshoot their phones or tablets to find out if a problem they’re getting (like a force close issue) is related to an application or the device’s ROM itself. Here’s how you can boot into safe mode on Android:

  1. Power off your device.
  2. Turn it back on.
  3. As soon as you see the screen turn on, press and hold the volume up and down buttons until the operating system is finished loading.

You’ll be able to tell if you’ve successfully booted into safe mode when you see the words “safe mode” in at least one of the corners on your devices screen. If for some reason it doesn’t show up, then look to see if any of your third party apps are missing. If some of them are missing, it means you’re in safe mode. If not, try the steps above again.
