Are you sick and tired of getting that annoying popup box on your iPhone every time you get an SMS text message? Not only does it show the whole world the message someone just sent you, but it also interferes with whatever you were doing at the time. In this step by step guide, I’ll show you how to either turn the pop up box off completely or (with iOS 5 and up) change it to a much less annoying banner that shows up in a noninvasive way at the top:

1. Go to your iPhone’s Settings app.
2. Tap on “Notifications.”
3. Scroll to and tap on “Messages.”
4. Under “Alert Style” click on either none or banners.
