If your Windows Phone has been acting up lately giving you all sorts of errors and freezing occasionally, a hard reset (otherwise known as a factory or master reset) may be in order. Doing a hard reset restores the phone to its original state (basically making the phone like new software wise) back when it had no problems. Some people also find hard resets useful for when they are selling their old phone and want to delete their personal data off their device. Below, you’ll find step by step instructions to hard resetting your Windows Phone 7:
Note: Doing a hard reset on your WP7 device will delete EVERYTHING off of your phone. Back up your data and proceed with caution.
- Go to your phone’s main settings.
- Scroll down to “about” and tap on it.
- Scroll down again to “reset your phone” and tap it.
- Press yes when it asks you if your sure.
The phone will reset itself after you do this. Make sure to let the phone do its thing and not pull the battery or anything like that because this can cause many problems down the line.
