Verizon Will Start Charging A $30 Upgrade Fee On April 22nd

Verizon has announced that they will begin charging $30 whenever a customer upgrades their contract and buys a new phone. Verizon explained that the upgrade fee is needed in order for the carrier to  “continue to provide customers with the level of service and support they have come to expect which includes Wireless Workshops, online educational tools, and consultations with experts who provide advice and guidance on devices that are more sophisticated than ever.” While unfortunate, Verizon’s upgrade fee is still lower than both AT&T and Sprint’s fee of $36 so we can’t complain too much.
