Sony Gets EU Approval For Ericsson Buyout

Sony just got the go ahead from the European Union to purchase Ericsson’s 50% share in the Sony-Ericsson joint venture. Sony had announced its plans to buyout Ericsson back in late October, and since then has announced a few devices bearing only the Sony name at CES this year. With the move, Sony hopes to turn its mobile business around while putting its focus the Android platform. We still don’t know if Sony plans to bring its mobile line up to the U.S, but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as we do.
