According to a job listing, Microsoft is looking to bring Xbox Live to iOS and “other mobile platforms.” If the job listing isn’t enough to convince you, Business Insider also talked with a developer who works closely with Microsoft who confirmed this information. Here is an excerpt from the job listing itself:
As the team inside IEB (Interactive Entertainment Business) dedicated to mobile experiences, we work closely with console software team and Xbox LIVE services team to bring the latest and greatest gaming and entertainment experience to mobile platforms including Windows Phone, iOS and other mobile platforms.
It’s a little surprising to see Microsoft plan on bringing their coveted Xbox Live app and games to a mobile platform other than their own because it was a competitive edge Windows Phone had over both Android and iOS. Of course, they probably have some sound reasoning behind the decision. There are no details as to when this will happen, but as usual we’ll keep you posted.
